The January 10 1977 stabbing murders of Suzanne Armstrong, 28, and Susan Bartlett, 27, in their home in Easey St, Collingwood, shocked a nation in 1977. In the 1990's eight suspects were cleared by DNA testing. Additionally police recently deemed a series of handwritten letters naming the killer as a hoax.
Ms Armstrong was raped and stabbed 29 times, while Ms Bartlett was stabbed 55 times. Ms Armstrong's 16-month-old son, Gregory, was left unattended in his cot in the next room for two days before the murders were discovered.
